Thank you for choosing to support Iqwat Foundation. This policy explains how we handle donation refunds, cancellations, and the rare cases where money is returned to a donor. Please read it before donating.
The short version: donations to Iqwat Foundation are non-refundable, as is standard for charitable contributions. We make two narrow exceptions — verified technical errors (such as a duplicate charge) and failed transactions automatically reversed by Razorpay. Donations are currently accepted from Indian citizens only as the Foundation does not yet hold an FCRA registration.
1. Donations are non-refundable
Donations made to Iqwat Foundation are voluntary, charitable contributions used in furtherance of the Foundation’s objects — building and maintaining the Iqwat digital platform, organising the Iqwat KP Business Conclave, and channelling surplus to specialist Kashmiri Pandit community organisations. Once a donation is received and verified, it becomes part of the Foundation’s corpus and is committed to those purposes. We therefore do not provide refunds on request, change of mind, or for reasons of donor remorse.
2. Narrow exceptions where a refund is possible
We will refund a donation in the following specific situations:
- Duplicate or repeated charge — if the same donor was charged more than once for the same intended donation due to a technical glitch, browser refresh, or payment-gateway retry. We will refund the duplicate(s), keeping one donation credited.
- Incorrect amount — if the amount charged does not match the amount you selected on the donation form, and you can show this via screenshots of the donate page versus the Razorpay receipt within seven (7) days of the transaction.
- Unauthorised transaction — if you can demonstrate that the payment was made without your authorisation (e.g., card fraud), we will refund the amount subject to verification, our donor records, and any applicable bank or law-enforcement processes.
- Failed transactions — if a payment is initiated but does not complete successfully, Razorpay typically reverses the temporary debit within 5–7 working days automatically. We do not need to intervene. If you have been debited and the reversal has not appeared after 10 working days, write to us and we will help you investigate with Razorpay.
3. How to request a refund
To request a refund under one of the exceptions above, please email donations@iqwat.com within 7 days of the transaction with the following information:
- The Payment ID and Order ID from your donation receipt
- The donor’s name and email address as entered on the donation form
- The reason for the refund request, with supporting evidence (screenshots, bank statements)
- The bank account or payment method to which the refund should be credited
We will acknowledge your request within 48 hours, investigate, and respond with a decision within 7 working days. If approved, the refund will be processed via Razorpay within a further 7–10 working days and will reach your account in the standard time the payment instrument typically takes (commonly 5–7 working days for cards, 1–3 working days for UPI).
4. Donations are accepted from Indian citizens only
Iqwat Foundation does not currently hold a registration under the Foreign Contribution (Regulation) Act, 2010 (“FCRA”). Under Indian law, charities without FCRA registration may receive donations only from Indian citizens.
If you are a Person of Indian Origin holding a foreign passport, an Overseas Citizen of India (OCI), or any other non-Indian citizen, we deeply appreciate your interest in supporting the Kashmiri Pandit community — but we are unable to accept your donation at this time. Please consider:
- Joining our mailing list to be notified when our FCRA registration is granted
- Supporting the community through non-monetary contributions — your time, network, voice, and presence at our gatherings
- Donating to specialist Kashmiri Pandit organisations that already hold FCRA registration (we’re happy to suggest some on request)
If a donation is found to have been made by a non-Indian citizen in error, we will refund the full amount and will not retain the funds.
5. Refunds and the 80G tax certificate
Iqwat Foundation is 80G certified. If you have already received the formal 80G receipt and donation certificate from us and we subsequently approve a refund, you must return or destroy the certificate. Refunded donations are not eligible for tax deduction under Section 80G of the Income Tax Act, and we will inform the Income Tax Department of the refunded amount in our annual filings.
6. Cancellations
Donations are one-time, immediate transactions through Razorpay Checkout. There is no “pending” donation state to cancel — once you complete payment on the Razorpay screen, the donation is recorded immediately. If you change your mind before clicking “Pay,” simply close the Razorpay window without paying. No amount is charged.
If a donation appears as pending in your bank account for more than 7 working days, it is almost always an authorisation hold by your bank — not a completed donation. Contact your bank for clarification, and email us if the issue persists.
7. Disputes and chargebacks
We strongly encourage donors to contact us at donations@iqwat.com before raising a chargeback with your bank. Most refund-eligible cases are resolved by us in days; chargebacks take weeks and may result in temporary loss of donation-acceptance capability for the Foundation, which is bad for the wider community.
If you nevertheless raise a chargeback, please understand that we may need to share the donation evidence with Razorpay and the issuing bank to respond to it — this is normal process and unavoidable.
8. Changes to this policy
We may update this policy from time to time. The “Last updated” date at the top of this page will reflect the most recent version. The policy in effect at the time of your donation governs that donation.
